SUPER AA DC COMICS EDUCATIONAL SET (1978)

The Super A-B Comics Educational Set was a unique educational initiative launched in 1978 by Warner Communications, the parent company of DC Comics at the time. The set was produced in collaboration with the American Association of Community and Junior Colleges (AACC) and was designed to use comic books as educational tools. There were four series: Super A, Super AA, Super B and Super BB, each with four different books, collected in handsome boxes.
They were published by the Science Research Associates, or SRA,a publishing company known for educational materials.
The set featured DC super heroes like Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman, integrated into stories that tackled real-world educational and social issues, such as literacy and reading comprehension, critical thinking and civic responsibility.
Each comic in the set was paired with teacher guides and worksheets, allowing instructors to build lessons around the stories.
It is the first book of the Super AA series that has a Legion connection. It reprints Insect Queen's origin from SUPERBOY 124, with dialogue simplified to help learners in English. The back cover includes drawing instructions for the bug belle.
The worksheets also include questions about Insect Queen, based on the story.
